This snippet is from my story for NaNoWriMo. Unfortunately I can't provide you with the previous parts since they haven't been written yet. *g* This prompt just suited so well into a scene that will happen later in my story. I have posted three parts of the story and they are here. However, this part of the story happens quite a lot later.
Title: Wergeld
Fandom: ats/btvs
Prompt: #18 - Wergeld
Warnings: slash, m/m, violence, death
Rating: R
Summary: Angel's moment of revenge has come
Disclaimer: I don't own the boys. I just play with them
After Angel received a word that the Initiative had been destroyed he waited a few days for the dust to settle. He made his own inquiries and got confirmation that the project formerly known as the Initiative had been buried in silence and all documents concerning it had been declared confidential for several decades. From what he could find out there were no plans of restarting the project so Angel could forget it for a while. When that was clear he decided that it was time for the next stage in his plan. He had a bad feeling that killing Dymion wouldn't be an easy task. However, it had to be done. For once luck was with him.
When he found out that Dymion had some unhappy relatives at his court he decided to seize the opportunity. He arranged a meeting with them to make the arrangements. He offered to pay them wergeld, a hefty sum of money, if they turned their back on Dymion when he came to kill him. He didn't really meet any noticeable resistance. It was quite obvious Dymion wasn't a very liked person among his relatives. He had back-stabbed quite a few of them to gain the position where he was at the moment. There were many who were very eager to take Dymion's position as the head of the demon clan. Angel guessed that there would be some bloody fights in front of them but it wasn't his problem. He was actually happy if the demons managed to kill each other. It would leave him less cleaning up to do. Of course he kept his thoughts of the subject to himself. His only concern was Spike and getting him away from Dymion. Nothing else mattered right now.
On the agreed date Angel made an appearance at the court. To his surprise Dymion's relatives had done even more than the part they had agreed on. They had somehow managed to send most of the random demons roaming the lair somewhere under some weak excuse. Dymion only had a few bodyguards with him and getting rid of them was very easy. When Angel turned his blood hungry gaze on Dymion the demon tried to plead for help from his relatives. Angel enjoyed the frightened gaze when Dymion realized that his relatives were leaving the lair and no one would be coming to help him. Next he tried to plead mercy from Angel who couldn't care less.
"Angelus, please, I do anything. You want my pet? Go on, take him. Just spare me."
"I have every intention of taking him with me but the first item on my agenda is killing you. You've treated him cruelly and that is a crime punishable by death in my books." Angel gave the demon a smirk he knew had no resemblance of any kindness. "No one touches my Childer without consequences. If you had done your research, you would have known it. Had you given him to me when I first asked, I might have had some mercy on you."
After that Angel proceeded to hack Dymion into small pieces like he had dreamed so many times during the past few weeks. He was aware of Spike crouching on his customary place under Dymion's chair and shivering with fear. He was kind of happy that there was a chain holding his Childe on place because he didn't feel like searching for the younger vampire all around the lair.
Finally Angel was satisfied with the damage he had done. He had made sure that Dymion remained alive and conscious as long as possible while still unable to counter the attack. As his final action he cut the chain holding Spike on place with his ax before taking hold of the chain. He could feel Spike tugging the chain a little and he was obvious afraid. Angel did feel a bit bad that he had caused such distress to his Childe but he hadn't had any other choices. He started to purr at his Childe because he had had positive experiences with that from earlier. It seemed to work this time too since Spike's shivers slowly faded away and the younger vampire just knelt there silently.
"Come on, Spike. Time to go home. I promise I will take good care of you from now on. No one will touch you ever again."
