Well I was moving at the speed of sound.
Head-spinning, couldn't find my way around, and
Didn't know that I was going down.
Yeah, yeah.
Where I've been, well it's all a blur.
What I was looking for, I'm not sure.
Too late and didn't see it coming.
Yeah, yeah.

The world crumbled overnight. People bleed and cities burned. There was no warning, no prophecies or dark omens that could have told them what was coming. One day they were holding the line and making a difference and the next hundreds of girls worldwide were dead and demons were walking the streets and killing whoever got in their way.

It was chaos.

They had tried to fall back but bases had been lost one after another until only one was left. The safest place to be had become the Cleveland Hellmouth base. The new kind of demons avoided it and the ones that were there, the normal type of demons and vampires had struck a deal with them. A mutual no killing kind of deal. So the majority of the Slayers left had been gathered there with some choosing to remain in the field and take the risks that came with that.

Buffy had stayed there for a year. Long enough to train the Slayers that needed it and make sure Dawn would be looked after. Long enough to make sure Xander and Robin could run things without her. Because along with Andrew they were the only ones that were left.

Faith had died the night the world had started burning around them. She had been ripped to pieces but the group of Slayers she had been leading had all made it out alive.

Giles had been killed when a group of demons had invaded the England base of the Council and no one had made it out there.

Willow had been the most recent. Three months after they got set up in Cleveland she had tried to send the demons back to hell. She had only managed to grab a couple hundred before she had had to make a choice. Let more out or burn herself away in order for them to never come back and for the way to be sealed permanently.

She had made the choice no one had wanted her to.

Buffy couldn’t stay in Cleveland anymore. She had needed to keep moving, she had needed to be out their physically beating back the forces of darkness and doing the whole Slayer gig the way it was meant to be, on her own and away from friends and family that kept dying around her.

She had officially left to find allies. Because as it turned out there were a small group of people in the world that could and did fight these demons and they all needed to be on the same page. The Hunters she had met hadn’t been exactly accommodating to the idea but Buffy was tired of being coy or cautious. In the past year she had lost too many people to take her time on making friends. She was quickly gaining a reputation to kicking doors in and stealing the information she needed that wasn’t given willingly.

It was Bobby Singer that had out her in her place before she had gotten killed. He had told her what she needed to know. He had told her about seals being broken and angels she had personally met, he had told her about a demon named Lilith and that the world they lived in wasn’t going to change, they just had to find a way to make it bearable.

He had introduced her to them.

Dean and Sam Winchester.

The two men almost every Hunter blamed for the end of the world but wouldn’t tell that to their face because the older one had spend enough time in Hell to be a little insane and the younger one was on a power kick that no one wanted to come up against.

Buffy had and she had survived, and they had been the only ones that hadn’t written the world off and were still fighting.
