Obviously, Don won out. For those familiar with the series, this takes place shortly after the episode Janus List, though no references to the episode are made within the fic.

Oh, and the name for Trenton's band is shamelessly stolen from a Jared Leto film of the same name. Title from Evanescence's Away From Me.
