Title: Mourn
Fandom; Pairings: World of Warcraft; Savitry/Andor Duskmoon (OFC/OMC)
Prompt: #278 - Rapid Eye Movement
Warnings: Angst, allusions to sex, more angst, and did I mention angst?
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 969
Summary: Savitry confronts the uncomfortable truths of existence among the living.
Notes: I'm back after far, far too long. Life reared its ugly head and my muses have been difficult to rein in. I hope I'm getting my groove back now.

For the living, the word dream was synonymous with hope. Hope for the future, for love, for peace. The dead can only remember what it was to live, to have a heart beating in their chests, to feel the sun warm their skin. The dead did not dream, they mourned. In sleep, the remains of their lives were thrown in stark relief against the reality of an existence among the still living. Perhaps this, Savitry thought, was why so many of her un-dead brethren chose to forgo sleep. That it wasn’t an act vital to their continued survival was a convenient, polite excuse to quell the unease of the living around them. It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t wholly true either.

Our acceptance among them is already imperiled by the very nature of our creation. We are evil, unnatural things to them, and perhaps they are right in that. Only our curious sense of self-preservation keeps us from admitting the truth: We resent the living.

The speech replayed in her mind as it had a thousand times since her hard won freedom from Arthas. )

Title: Homesick (Part 4/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #255 - Jackhammer
Warnings: Allusions to violent sex.
Rating: R
Word Count: 2,152
Summary: Before she can plan her next job, Selene needs to clear her head at a dance club. Sadly, this means dealing with an entitled jerk.
Notes: I admit it. My inner twelve year old giggled when she saw the prompt and wouldn't let it go. And who better to use it as an insult than Selene? Uh, anyway, you'll realize that I've skipped part three, which hasn't been written yet. It's on my list, but first there's another piece I have to finish, so sorry about that! I'll let any interested parties know when it's written (and yes, that part will be NC-17).

After a full day of playing mistress and inventing new ways to torture and pleasure my pet, I wasn’t exactly in the mood to plan an assassination. My mind was too jumbled and my emotions too erratic to focus on such a detail oriented task. Though Ballari seemed to have accepted and even enjoyed discovering my dark side, I wasn’t foolish enough to believe she wouldn’t have a change of heart when it was all over. I thought it best I look for a way to unwind and clear my mind somewhere away from the beach house. That meant spending a few hours losing myself in the music at one of the local dance clubs.

While perusing the long list of clubs near my location on John’s computer, Ballari staggered into the room to check on me. )

And now it's time to celebrate!

A big round of applause for our Callipso winners who got that muse to show up three weeks running, and keeping a muse in check for almost a month is quite the accomplishment.

Congratulations...

Title: Memories
Fandom; Pairings: World of Warcraft; None (OCs)
Prompt: #254 - From whence we came.
Warnings: None.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,242
Summary: Savitry knows she had a life before becoming a death knight, she's just not sure she wants to know what it was.
Notes: It's possible I've taken some liberties with the lore, though I don't believe any of it is outrageous or incongruent with WoW's setting. Savitry is just one of my alts and not anyone I currently have plans to role-play with, well except maybe with a friend as we quest together. Then again, I'll never say never to a new character potential. Anyway, this idea popped into my head days ago and wouldn't leave.

The blue sapphire spun slowly on its grime coated chain, the faceted surface sparkling like a star in the torchlight.

“What is it?”

“A necklace.”

“I can see that, but why are you showing it to me?”

“It’s yours.”

Savitry cocked her head and regarded the forsaken holding the jewelry in his outstretched hand with suspicion. “I don’t own any necklaces.”

Title: Oops
Fandom; Pairings: Original; N/A
Prompt: #253 - Any joke in a storm.
Warnings: None.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,630
Summary: No good deed goes unpunished.
Notes: I have zero idea what this is. It's sort of related to something else that's been in my head, but beyond that, I can't tell you anything. Also, vampires and the fae are like chocolate and peanut butter for me. Maybe I'll play around with this some more at a later point.

Hospitals are horrible places. There’s the smell of antiseptic upon every surface, the seemingly endless waiting, the same bland décor in every room, but each of these only serve to make a trip to the emergency room unsettling at best. What truly makes hospitals such terrible places is the knowledge that death is forever looming nearby waiting to take the expectant and unsuspecting alike. From the youngest toddler to the senior citizen who has more years behind him than he does ahead, they all know there’s a chance that once they enter they might not return. Death is the only true equal-opportunity non-discriminating employer in existence.

It always seemed silly to me that mortals fear the inevitable so much, and many of them will put themselves through horrific agony if it means drawing just one more breath. )

Title: Homesick (Part 2/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #252 - Samurai
Warnings: Talk of murder, assassination.
Rating: R (Eventual NC-17)
Word Count: 2,117
Summary: John stops by the beach house with a job for Selene. Trouble is Ballari might not like what this job requires Selene to do. (You don't need to read part one to be able to understand what's happening here, but here's a link just in case.)
Notes: This is something I banged out this afternoon, and it is a set-up for some kinky smut in part three, which I don't think right now I can fit into next week's prompt (Any joke in a storm), but we'll see. Either way I will write a part three soon and do my best to fill next week's prompt even if it's not Selene/Ballari. And this is one of those things where I sat down with one thing in mind and what came out was totally different. However, I happen to like what I wrote and I felt like I was in the zone, and that I've got Selene's voice nailed back down.

ETA: Now with the proper version up here and less copy-paste fail on the part of the author!

Every day Ballari would wake up before dawn and go outside to run through her katas with the sunrise as her backdrop. It never seemed to matter how little sleep she got the night before or how sore she might be from training and sparring. As soon as the eastern sky began to lighten, she was on her feet repeating the same movements she’d probably started learning the day after she took her very first steps.

Not being a morning person in any sense of the word, I usually slept in, rousing before noon most days. But sometimes I’d stagger out of bed to make coffee and watch her from the large bay window in the den. )

Title: Homesick (Part 1/?)
Fandom; Pairings: Original; AU Selene/Ballari
Prompt: #251 - Melody
Warnings: N/A
Rating: R (Eventual NC-17)
Word Count: 957
Summary: Ballari could sing in her own way.
Notes: Two characters of mine from vastly different table-top campaigns. In my head, I'd always wondered what they might be like together and the roles they'd take on in a relationship. Those who are familiar with Selene will find that she seems a little OOC here, and I'd have to agree; however, this is also an AU Selene who has suffered another loss and who finds herself in a strange world. Next part she'll show a little more of her old self. Those who remember Ballari might find it surprising to see her show a more vulnerable side, but it seemed right when I put her with Selene. (Technically it's the City of Heroes versions of them that I made, but there's no real mention of the world they're in so I didn't feel it fit that fandom.)

I’m not the sort of woman to get sentimental. Emotions can be hazardous in my line of work—empathetic assassins are soon dead assassins. Even so, there had been the occasional exception to my “no attachments” rule; Mykolas and Karl sprang to mind, two men it still hurt to think about. Yet, despite the continued pain of their losses and the potential for betrayal, I found myself inexplicably drawn to Ballari again and again.

Maybe it was our shared loneliness. )

Title: Reunion
Fandom; Pairings: World of Warcraft; OCs (duh), mention of one NPC (Torian)
Prompt: #250 - Starry Night
Warnings: Parental angst.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,810
Summary: After receiving a strongly worded invitation, Folami returns to Sunstrider Isle to visit her father after a two-year separation. She learns that not only has a lot changed in her absence, her father is also aware of her current activities.
Notes: This is my first prompt in many months. I hope I'll be able to resume doing the weekly prompts now that my life seems to be settling down and my muses have returned. Oh, and this story does concern current role-play events within my guild.

Orgrimmar stank, literally and figuratively. The hot desert sun combined with a population for whom baths were few and far between made for a particularly nauseating bouquet of odors, especially to the delicate senses of a blood elf. Robes became implements of torture in the suffocating heat, making even the thinnest of fabrics seem like the wearer’s own personal oven. Then there was the orc soldiers’ unique way of creating camaraderie among those who swore allegiance with the Horde by making teasing remarks to those they deemed as being from weaker races.

Yet Folami was feeling almost wistful for the great Horde city as she walked the familiar pathways leading to her childhood home in Sunstrider Isle. )

Title: "Just One Call"
Fandom: Supernatural
Prompt: #219 - Rune Stone
Warnings: Major spoilers for end of season five and minor ones for 6x01: "Exile on Main Street." Angsty Sam. No, seriously, angst.
Rating: PG
Summary: Sam wants to call Dean even though he knows Dean's better off thinking Sam is dead.
Word Count: 823
Notes: This occurs between the end of season five and beginning of season six. Written in a couple of hours while suffering from a pretty bad cold and a sore throat. Also, I don't write fanfic...well, yeah, I suck at this in general. :p

Warnings: Blood, human sacrifice.
Rating: R
Summary: What if we created our own goddess?
Word Count: 1,158
Notes: Back after taking a week off since life has been hectic and stressful. I'm out of practice and not really impressed with my ability to get what's in my head to translate to the screen. Still, it's done, and way before midnight to boot.

Warnings: Language, adult themes.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Drugged with Dreamdust, Selene gets an unpleasant visit from her mother.
Word Count: 1,051

Title: The Real Charity
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #211 - Abscond
Warnings: None.
Rating: G
Summary: Charity Davidshire is more complex than her exterior makes her seem.
Word Count: 592
Notes: This might serve as a basis for a new roleplay character for my boyfriend's campaign. So, this serves a dual purpose of getting me to tame my muse and help me get through the first bits of character creation. Also, this was rushed to make deadline. I got caught up in house/apartment hunting. It's going to be a challenge, albeit a fun one, to keep up my streak since the next couple of weeks will involve me moving.

Despite the implications of her appellation, Charity Davidshire was not terribly charitable. In fact, according to the denizens of the slums of T’nor, she was a force to be reckoned with—at least among those unfortunate enough to draw her ire. Slight of frame and voice, the half-elf didn’t offer much in the way of an imposing figure. Generally she blended into the background, remaining unnoticed unless she chose to be seen; however, when the need arose, she was capable of inspiring fear in the brawniest of men and women.

Title: "The Truth Hurts"
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #210 - Feral
Warnings: Silliness.
Rating: G
Summary: Life is unfair, especially when your best friend is a werewolf and you're...something else.
Word Count: 954
Notes: This was fun to write.

Like most people, Charlie didn’t like to talk about his support group outside of meetings. It wasn’t that he was ashamed of his affliction—he was very proud of who and what he was—he didn’t want to risk revealing too-personal information about his fellow “sufferers.” I’m not saying he didn’t have a right to be concerned. If an outsider with bad intentions infiltrated one of their meetings and revealed their identities to outsiders, it could ruin lives and possibly even end a few. But I, the persistent little bastard I am, still insisted upon putting Charlie in an awkward position.

Title: "The Marauders" (Oh, look at me being all original.)
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #209 - Marauders
Warnings: None except for some violent/disturbing imagery I guess.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A soldier fighting an army of the damned recalls his final battle as it happens.
Word Count: 718
Notes: I have no earthly idea what this is. My muse wanted dark and disturbing I guess. I think she did it pretty well.

Title: A Pretty Package
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #208 - All that glistens is not gold.
Warnings: Strong lanugage.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Sometimes a person who calls himself a vampire really is a vampire.
Word Count: 1,048
Notes: If I ever get around to writing the great American vampire novel, this is part of what would be in there. There's not much back story here and you're not missing anything. Just a scene that popped into my head. As with everything I post, it could be laods better.

Title: The More Things Change
Fandom: Original
Prompt: #207 - Tuvalu
Warnings: None really, just two immature boys talking about breasts.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A glimpse into the lives of adolescent boys of the future.
Word Count: 665
Notes: I have no idea who these boys are, this is simply what my muse came up with this week. Also, from reading the Wikipedia entry so graciously provided by the mods, Tuvalu does not, in fact, have any nude beaches, nor is it a tropical paradise with loads of tourism.
