The December Holiday Challenge is Closed.

Entries can be found here.

One of the reasons we chose the format (short, original fiction) was to encourage concrit. Since we no longer have voting, this is a chance for authors to grow and learn. If you get a chance, please visit the authors who participated this month and leave some feedback.

Note: If you had a contribution and don't see it on the list, it's likely because of a missing tag.

Thank you to everyone who participated. [livejournal.com profile] authoressnebula has made some really beautiful banners for you, which she'll be posting shortly.

And lastly, Happy New Year from your tamingmods. You guys make this community wonderful. You deserve nothing but the absolute best in 2009!

Hello everyone! *waves*

It’s time for our January monthly challenge!

1000+ word story told in First Person Narrative/ POV. This should be a complete story, rather than a part of a larger piece, however, it can be original or fan fiction.

Entries will need to be received by midnight 31 Jan. at GMT -12. We’ll issue a closed post as we do with the weekly prompts.

When you post your entry, please tag it for the challenge.

You do not have to be a regularly contributing member of the community to participate. This challenge is optional and open to everyone.

You are allowed to use the monthly challenge in conjunction with any of the weekly prompts this month as long as you follow all the requirements for both. So, for this month, you would:
  • Include the weekly prompt in your story
  • It would be a stand-alone, short story of 1000 words or more told in First Person POV
  • It would be posted by the earlier of the two deadlines (midnight Saturday, or midnight on the 31st).

Information about this narrative style can be found here and here.

Good luck everyone!

We had quite a turn out for our first ever monthly challenge! ^_^ And for those who participated, you've got a pretty coming your way.

Congratulations go to [livejournal.com profile] alakewood, [livejournal.com profile] authoressnebula, [livejournal.com profile] ayoub, [livejournal.com profile] catw00man, [livejournal.com profile] d_fritillary, [livejournal.com profile] delilahdraken, [livejournal.com profile] guardian_erin, [livejournal.com profile] pesha, [livejournal.com profile] piksa, [livejournal.com profile] tiaordona, [livejournal.com profile] tigerstriped86, [livejournal.com profile] xocoatldreams, and [livejournal.com profile] zippitgood!! Thanks so much for participating, everyone!!

Awards for participating are beneath the cut. Because there are so many, one for each name listed above, I'd have to rank it as not very dial-up safe. If this becomes a problem for too many people, please let me know, and I'll divide them up into separate posts.

All pretties under here! )

The new challenge is up; feel free to join in if it strikes your muse. Just remember to please tag your posts! ^_^

Congratulations to everyone again!

~Nebula
