Giles was always warning them against things like this. Since the whole debacle with the magic Letterman jacket, they'd had to listen to lecture upon lecture about the dangers of magical artifacts. Xander had felt the sting of his mess up with the love spell being used again as an example of what could go wrong when you used magic without knowing what you were doing.
