This is something I wrote a while ago and wanted to rework. The beginning is still pretty much the same but it may end up in a different place then I planned.
Post-Chosen Willow attempts a spell for Buffy's birthday but as usual something doesn't as planed. Angel Season 5 didn't happen.
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: PG for now.

Willow sits in a circle of candles surrounded by four of the coven's witches including Althena. They begin to chant.
Bring back the warrior of the Guardians
Bring him back to his last love
Give him form and solid shape
His saving end shall his passage pay
Give him back
Give him back!
She screamed the last line into the night. Her head shot back glowing white all except her eyes which turned black and reflected the light. She slumped forward passing out in the circle.
The Hellmouth during Chosen
Buffy looks down at their joined hands which are on fire.
"I love you."
"No you don't but thanks for saying it."
She leaves him with that last look.
"I wanna see how it ends."
His last thoughts are a mess, he's delirious, his one coherent thought is "She loves me, she finally said it and if I hadn't been so set on killing her this never would've happened, I never would've come to Sunnydale."
Present - Coven in England
Three of the witches lift a limp Willow onto a cot in the cornor of the room. Althena cleans the supplies from the earlier spell. Giles walks over to her and they talk for a few moments in hushed voices. Giles removes his glasses and cleans them a familiar habit. When he puts them back on he turns to Althena and the other witches he starts. " Changing the past?! I don't understand how you could let her attempt such a thing, much less hou you could help her use such great magics. I thought more of you Al, of all of you."
"Our seers saw this months ago. They saw you winning the battle but at a great cost. The powers showed us that we would bring someone back to our reality and change the course of time but not how it would change. But nothing seems to have happened, perhaps we misunderstood the vision perhaps we sent him somewhere else. Maybe to some other reality.
"How do we find him? can you modify the locator spell to find him?"
"Unless we know the name of the dimension we can't use the locator spell to find out where he is but maybe... yea that should work." She mumbles a few words in Latin and a glowing sphere appears in front of her and comes to rest on the table. Giles and Althena approach the sphere and look into it.
They see Spike appear in the shadows behind the old Welcome to Sunnydale sign. They hear a motor reving in the distance. Spike appears to realize where he is and he jumps out of sight as his DeSoto crashed through the sign.
"What is this? What happened?" Giles asks
" We used the spell that our seer told us of. This must've been what he was thinking of when he died,"
"This looks like the first time he came to Sunnydale to kill Buffy...did you tell her about this plan?"
"No, young Willow was most adamant that Buffy was only to know if and when we had him back. It was supposed to be her birthday present."
"Her present, yea it would be nice for her to have a good birthday for once." He thought back to her last seven birthdays. When they had bothered to celebrate it usually turned into disaster. "Well we should keep an eye on him and make sure the spell didn't have any other consequences.
