How to Win Awards
Warning... large graphics included!

Step One
Pick your award.  Yep, you read that right.  You decide how many weeks to play.

Step Two:
Post a story that fits the prompt each week. Remember, the story will only qualify if the community members rate the story as a "7" or better in each of the three categories: plot, character, and grammar.

Step Three:
At the end of the week, I'll post a poll where you can vote on each story.  For guidelines on voting, see This Post.
Step Four:
The first week you fail to post a story or that your story is rated lower than a "7", I'll post any awards that you may have earned.

Examples:

Mary wants the Melpomene Award. She posts a story each week for 15 weeks. On week 16, she doesn't post a story. By week 17, she'll have her Melpomene Award.

Kelly wants a Terpsichore Award.  She posts every week, but on week 19, her story gets rated a "6" in grammar. Her run is over.  By week 18, I'll post a Polyhymnia Award, and she starts over again.

Jessie is insane and wants them all.  Oi.  She posts three stories and then skips week 4.  By week five, I post a Calliope Award for her.  She starts over again, and must post at least 6 stories before taking another week off and then I'll post a Clio Award for her.

Yep, every time you miss a week, you start over at ONE!

Calliope Award - 3 consecutive weeks

Clio Award - 6 consecutive weeks

Erato Award - 9 consecutive weeks

Euterpe Award - 12 consecutive weeks

Melpomene Award - 15 consecutive weeks

Polyhymnia Award - 18 consecutive weeks

Terpsichore Award - 21 consecutive weeks

Thalia Award - 24 consecutive weeks

Urania Award - 27 consecutive weeks

Goddess Award - 30 consecutive weeks

Outta curiosity, are the banners going to be re-uploaded or something as none of them are here and I'm thinking that people would like to see what the awards look like before deciding which one to go for...

Perhaps this might not be the most appropriate place to ask my questions, but I'll give it a try. So:

1. Can I pick each muse at one time? Like, let's say I'm picking Calliope and writing three stories in three weeks, and they reach the right level; I'm getting the Calliope banner - can I move on and try to earn the Clio one, or do I need to start over from the very beginning, and the previous stories do not count?
2. And second, if I'm rated lower than accepted at one moment, can I start over, or I'll be banned from posting? *g*

Thank you!

Oh. I'm very sorry; if LJ delivered my comment late, your answer was never delivered :\. I'm glad to have decided to check this anyway!

1. All right; now I think I understand how it works. I write for three weeks, and if I do get my first banner, I stop for a week and start over, in order to collect the new one. I suppose you'll let me know whether I earned the banner or not ;)

2. Excellent, now I am quite reassured!

I'm joining as we speak, and thank you so much for the patience! :)

If we decide to do what this member is doing with two runs, would we be allowed to post the same story with each account or would we have to write two separate works?

And, smiles, what if you're male? Do you still become a goddess? laughs

I have another question. Where do we post which award we are aiming for once we have decided it ourselves?

I second this question. Do we just start posting or do we need to let you know which award we're going for before we start?

Hi sweets! Could I make a gentle suggestion? If this post isn't really monitored much, perhaps you could get link this page and also the front profile page to your "contact the mods" page, because as a new person wandering over here, it wasn't too obvious where to ask a question at first.

Hopefully one day I'll get my fic mojo on and have a go at all this. It looks awesome! :D

Oh I found someone else asked the same thing on the "ask a mod bit" over here: linky" (http://community.livejournal.com/tamingthemuse/668164.html?thread=1799428#t1799428)

EDIT: Or now they've answered. lol

How do you know what you got? What if you got a 6 in grammar? Can you see the scores?

Online fandom newbie...came online in 2011 and just now found this comm. The previous comment is from 2010, so I am wondering about the activity level on this comm.

Yays! I'll be watching for my time to start! (After the holidays, 'cause right now I'm all about writing fic for my fandom's Seekrit Santa.) Is it okay for me to use a "taming the muse" icon before I start writing for your comm? They are awesome (and good for comm-pimping...that's how I learned of this comm's existence.)
