It's time for our April monthly challenge!

I had this evil plan of posting something completely horrible in the morning in honor of April Fools' Day but then my imagination ran out and couldn't come up with anything. Therefore, you just get the real prompt for April

Since it's April Fools' Day the prompt is just that. Write a 1000+ word story somehow using April Fools' Day in it. This should be a complete story, rather than a part of a larger piece, however, it can be original or fan fiction.



Entries will need to be received by midnight 30th April at GMT -12. We'll issue a closed post as we do with the weekly prompts.

When you post your entry, please tag it for the challenge.

You do not have to be a regularly contributing member of the community to participate. This challenge is optional and open to everyone.

You are allowed to use the monthly challenge in conjunction with any of the weekly prompts this month as long as you follow all the requirements for both. So, for this month, you would:
- Include the weekly prompt in your story
- It would be a stand-alone, a story of 1000 words or more about April Fools' Day
- It would be posted by the earlier of the two deadlines (midnight Saturday, or midnight on the 30th).
