March Simile Challenge

I want to thank Nicole for revealing the wonderful world of slash to me and spending so much time chatting with me on YIM.

Caleb walked down the halls of Spencer for what he hoped would be the last time red graduation gown billowing around him. )

Title: As Mad as a March Hare
Author: tigerstriped86
Fandom: Original, No pairing
Rating: PG-13 (mentions of the allusions of rape ala Blanche DeBouis and death)

Prompt 139: Bemused; March Simile challenge (as mad as a march hare)

The premise: Traci is not the same as the rest of the village.  Has this led her on a better path or has she just hit too close to the sun that burns the arid desert?
A/N: My three characters: Jericho Chase, Traci, and Edwin are all pieces of a larger novel (but made into one-shots for the challenges, natch)  I'm trying to piece together so pardon if the characters run together in the continuing months.  My brain is a continual cycle of neverendom.  Also, I really liked the Feb. challenge icon, but the uploader on lj is messing with me (yet again), so hopefully I'll have it figured out by April.

Happy writing!

Rating: PG-13.
Word Count: 1700+
Summary: It’s not unlike seeing his brother for the first time; his breath catches in his chest as he holds Sam’s gaze and he’s slipping – slipping into the cool blue-green depths that betray everything Sam’s trying not to show him.
Disclaimer: As always, I own nothing.
A/N: My muse abandoned me this week, left me high and dry, and I had to fight for every word of this fic. Also, the title is from Tautou by Brand New.

Hello everyone! *waves*

It’s time for our March monthly challenge!

1000+ word Simile challenge. This should be a complete story, rather than a part of a larger piece, however, it can be original or fan fiction.

This month, you choose a simile and that will be the title and theme of your piece. For Example: if you chose the simile 'As Right as Rain' this would be the title of the piece, and you could write about a woman who is finally coming to grips with the loss of a loved one. Or perhaps she has escaped a terrible situation and ends up in a field during a downpour and suddenly feels euphoric and uplifted by her freedom. Other than the title, you don't have to include the simile in your piece.

Entries will need to be received by midnight 31 March. at GMT -12. We’ll issue a closed post as we do with the weekly prompts.

When you post your entry, please tag it for the challenge.

You do not have to be a regularly contributing member of the community to participate. This challenge is optional and open to everyone.

You are allowed to use the monthly challenge in conjunction with any of the weekly prompts this month as long as you follow all the requirements for both. So, for this month, you would:
  • Include the weekly prompt in your story
  • It would be a stand-alone, short story of 1000 words or more with a simile as the title, and the same simile used as the theme of the piece
  • It would be posted by the earlier of the two deadlines (midnight Saturday, or midnight on the 31st).

Good luck everyone!
